Company Background

SchoolStream started as a series of productivity applications developed by American System Technology Inc. (ASTI), a Michigan registered company founded in 1993. Amongst other businesses, ASTI developed SchoolStream applications from 1998 to 2006 to service its clients in the US K-12 educational industry. The applications were designed, tested and refined together with multiple school districts in Michigan. In 2002, ASTI began to package the applications into a single product line called SchoolStream and started selling them to the K-12 districts across the nation. Since 2006, SchoolStream separated itself from ASTI and became a division of Right Response, LLC.

Application Service Provider (ASP) Sets a Competitive Business Model

SchoolStream was originally a suite of independent applications designed to service specific school district’s needs; those applications were designed to run in district IT environment on their server groups. In 2003, the SchoolStream management team decided to rewrite the entire suite to make it an ASP product. The new product was hosted and provided by SchoolStream itself with high security and availability through the internet. The ASP product model allows SchoolStream to lower down the customization and deployment cost dramatically, allowing SchoolStream to provide this product to K12 districts with a more reasonable and economic price. In addition to the cost savings, changing to the ASP product model also shorten the deployment time from weeks to overnight. In the ASP model, SchoolStream clients subscribe to the product through the internet instead of installing the product on the district’s computer servers. Any SchoolStream user from the districts can use the product at anytime, anywhere, as long as they have internet access.

The ASP model gave SchoolStream an edge to penetrate the market quickly, starting in Michigan and expanding across 36 states in just 6 years.

Our Mission is to Help K-12 Districts Save Operational Costs

SchoolStream products and company organization is designed for one purpose:

“To help K-12 districts save time, ease labor, reduce materials and improve communication in daily operations.”

Our suite of applications provides high ROI (Return On Investment) annually to subscribing districts; the average Pay-Back time through operational cost savings is around 3 months. SchoolStream has been certified by USAC (Universal Service Administrative Company), which allows the product to be funded up to 80% (80% E-rateable) for qualified school districts. This makes SchoolStream an extremely attractive and almost a free cost reduction solution for many districts facing the budget cutting economic crisis.

Like every profitable and growing company, the future success of SchoolStream has to rely on continuously providing product value to our clients and the relentless pursuit to strengthen the product value by its employees. SchoolStream continually consults with our clients and experts in the education industry to design practical and essential cost saving applications that help k12 districts save operational costs.
